Phase 2 — At the Rental Counter

Decide on CDW at the Counter

When rental staff offer CDW or LDW insurance, you can say: "No thank you, I have arranged my own excess cover." Read the rental agreement carefully before signing.

Sorting cover in advance gives you time to compare your options before pickup pressure starts.

Pick Up Your Car & Drive

The rental company will hold a deposit on your credit card — this is standard. If no damage occurs, it's released at return. You're covered from your policy start date.

Phase 3 — If Something Goes Wrong

Document Everything Immediately

If there's damage or theft, photograph everything immediately. The rental company will assess the damage and may charge your credit card. Keep all receipts and correspondence.

Submit Your Claim Online

Log in, start a claim, and upload your documents. You'll need:

  • Rental Agreement (full document)
  • Damage Invoice or Receipt
  • Driver Licence (all drivers)
  • Photos of Damage (min. 3)

Get Reimbursed
